Abstract
NEMD method is applied to investigate the width effect on the flow structure in the long, open-type nanocavity. TIP4P/2005 water model is applied to simulate 2D Poiseuillea nanoflows through a quartz nanochannel 22 nm high with perpendicular nanocavities 25.2 nm long periodically situated at lower wall. Hydrodynamic bulk parameters obtained by averaging the simulation data of water flows in two nanochannels of different nanocavity width: 5 nm and 7 nm are compared and analysed. The results show a size effect on the flow structure and on vortex formation. In the narrower nanocavity the vortex centre shifts to the front wall of the nanocavity and is situated closer to the main nanochannel axis than in the wider one, moreover reduction of velocity inside the nanocavity in the narrower nanocavity is stronger.
