Abstract
⺠The line tension as a new characteristic of a crack is introduced and evaluated. ⺠A generalized Gibbs energy is introduced for describing loaded solids. ⺠Conformal and depth mechanisms of crack growth are comparatively studied. ⺠The fracture criterion is reconsidered with account of the crack line tension. ⺠Numerical calculations are performed for solids with dispersion forces.
