Abstract
The interaction and charge transfer between Zn-based nanoparticles (NPs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is investigated by X-ray Auger and photoelectron spectroscopy. Charge transfer from Zn NPs toward the CNTs is demonstrated by the presence of an additional feature revealed in the C 1s spectrum of CNTs. This charge transfer was found to vanish after thermal oxidation due to the transformation of the metal Zn into ZnO. Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy shows that in the samples ZnO(Nps)/CNTs the PL intensity is quenched.
