Abstract
In this paper, the heat and mass transfer characteristics of a horizontal tube absorber of a lithium bromide/water absorption chiller, which was manufactured according to industrial standards without additives are presented. It can be concluded that the heat transfer coefficient does not vary with the lithium bromide content but slightly with the film Reynolds number. On the other hand, it has turned out that the mass transfer coefficient changes with the lithium bromide mass fraction and the position in the absorber but not significantly with the film Reynolds number. The experimental data are discussed and an interpretation of the data is proposed.
