Abstract
This study examines the effect of Temperature Rising Inhibitor (TRI) on Portland cement hydration process and analyzes the mechanism. The investigation of the impact of TRI on cement dissolution, C-S-H nucleation and growth process shows that TRI has little influence on the dissolution kinetics of cement and crystal-solution interfacial energy of C-S-H. In contrast, the modification of C-S-H grain size in solution and the C-S-H growth rate in cement suspensions are observed. Experiments involving TRI and synthesized C-S-H confirm that TRI will preferentially adsorb on the C-S-H surface and inhibit growth of C-S-H.
