Abstract
The control of the morphological aspects as well as the structural order of the lattice at short- and long-range in chemically precipitated hydroxyapatite (HA) lead to distinct self-activated photoluminescence (PL) emission profiles with maximum emissions in blue and green regions of the visible electromagnetic spectrum. The results revealed that bulk, surface, and interface defects are responsible for the PL emissions in this biomaterial.266
