Abstract
Fretting corrosion fatigue behaviour of Alloy 690 was investigated in 285â¯Â°C pure water under different normal loads. With increasing the normal load applied, the fatigue life decreased, more severe surface damage and subsurface deformation were observed. The effects of normal loads on crack characteristics on the longitudinal sections across the fretting fatigue scars and corrosion fatigue fractures were examined. Possible influence of the normal loads on initiation and propagation mechanisms of the fretting corrosion fatigue cracks of Alloy 690 in high-temperature pure water are discussed.
