Abstract
SiC network reinforced C/C-ZrB2-ZrC-SiC composites are prepared by precursor infiltration and pyrolysis process with C/C-ZrB2 fabric as preform. SiC wires with different lengthscales form networks in pores and matrix of the composites. The composites exhibit good ablation resistance under the plasma flame. After ablation, a network reinforced film is formed in the ablation center, which can prevent the oxygen and heat attacking the substrate. The formation of the network interlocking structure not only improves the toughness of the film, but also enhances the bonding ability of the film due to the pinning effect of the ablated networks.
