Abstract
The corrosion behavior of magnesium material in different mediums containing similar ions to that of simulated body fluid was investigated by electrochemical approaches and immersion tests. It was shown that the corrosion of magnesium was influenced by the composition of the solution. Furthermore, this study also indicated that the mechanical integrity of magnesium was associated with the compositions of the fluid mediums. Based on the above results, we could further understand the corrosion process and the associated hydroxyapatite mineralization of magnesium material in a physiological environment.
