Abstract
The hydrogen permeation behaviour of X52 pipeline steel was investigated using the electro-chemical method in high H2S-containing solutions from 25 to 80 °C. The corrosion rate increases with the hydrogen ion concentration and the growth of the corrosion scale accelerates with increasing temperature. Hydrogen permeation is dependent on the formation of the corrosion scale. The initial inner corrosion scale in the acidic solution grows faster than that in the neutral solution, while the growth rate of the outer deposited layer in the acidic solution is lower than that in the neutral solution.
