Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of 16Mn low alloy steel in simulated sulfide-containing Bayer solutions at different conditions has been studied by polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) at the corrosion potential. The conclusions on the effect of S2â, NaOH and Al2O3 at various temperatures in sulfide-containing Bayer solutions on the corrosion mechanism of the studied material are drawn. A model based on its reaction mechanism was proposed. Interpretation of the results according to this model and two time constants Ï0 and Ï1 - allowed for the estimation of rate-determining step. The EIS was well analyzed by this model.
