Abstract
The effect of magnetic field on the oxide-scale growth of Fe-20Ni binary alloy was investigated. Results indicated that the oxide scales consisted of an external Fe-oxide layer and an internal oxidation zone (IOZ). The oxidation kinetics, gained by weight loss method, showed that the application of magnetic field retarded the growth of oxide scales. After measuring the penetrated depths of the oxide precipitates in subscale, evidence on the retarding effect of magnetic field on the growth of subscale was observed.
