Abstract
⺠Biomedical 316LVM hardened by active screen and DC plasma carburising. ⺠Augmentation of pitting and crevice corrosion resistance by plasma carburising. ⺠Active screen increases crevice corrosion resistance of the steel by 98%. ⺠DC carburising increases crevice corrosion resistance of the steel by 39%. ⺠No crevice corrosion is observed on the carburised specimens at 800 mV (SCE).
