Abstract

This paper describes the investigation of the current state of cold-storage facilities and the analysis of the prediction of the future demand for such facilities. Based on the analysis results, the future scale of cold-storage facilities was predicted. The main analysis results are summarized as follows. The present circumstances of cold-storage facilities were determined by investigating the actual loading capacity and average stock amounts of cold-storage facilities, and the number of such facilities that have been returned. The results show that the present cold-storage facilities are excessive by about 7%, and that the average stock amounts are gradually increasing. Accordingly, the demand for cold-storage facilities is predicted to increase, with their capacity in 2014 expected to reach 3,811,000 tons. It is considered that the results of the demand prediction have significant implications on the future management of cold-storage facilities.

▶ The present cold-storage facilities are excessive by about 7%. ▶ The cold-storage capacity in 2014 expected to reach 3,811,000 tons. ▶ The capacity is insufficient in the metropolitan and Busan areas.
