Abstract
We report a novel coumarin based optical chemosensor (Probe 1) for the selective and sensitive detection of Cu2+ ions in aqueous medium. The addition of Cu2+ ions to Probe 1 shows distinct color change from light yellow to pinkish red color under visible light with the sensing limit of 1.54â¯Î¼M. Moreover, practical utility of Probe 1 as solid state optical sensor (test paper, TLC plates) for sensing Cu2+ has been demonstrated by instantaneous “naked eye” response.
