Abstract
A novel electric field-assisted flash-joining technique is reported. Zirconia and Ni-alloy can be strongly bonded in 1â¯s when the voltage and current density are higher than critical values. The resultant joint can be readily de-bonded by reversing the electric field, which provides significant manufacturing flexibility. The technique could, in principle, be extended to a wide range of ceramic-metal systems.85
