Abstract
The 'mild' hydrothermal crystal growth technique has been leveraged to synthesize four new zero-dimensional transition-metal fluorides with isolated metal coordination polyhedra. Their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction. The thermal, optical, and magnetic properties were investigated and the presence of thermal polymorphism and antiferromagnetic ground states were observed. In addition, the potential application of these materials as precursors for advanced functionality is explained.399
