TZ-3Y20A/Mo multilayer composites were prepared via a novel particle sedimentation method. Experimental procedure by using this method was described in detail. Appropriate settling parameters were chosen and green bodies of multilayer composites were obtained by settling TZ-3Y20A powder and Mo powder in turn according to the designed individual layer thickness. Then the deposits were hot pressing (HP) sintered at 1773 K for an hour under a pressure of 20 MPa in a flow argon (Ar) atmosphere. The sintered composites were investigated by SEM, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The results suggested that the compact, well-bonding and smooth fracture interfacial structures of TZ-3Y20A/Mo multilayer composites were obtained. No boundary reactions between TZ-3Y20A and Mo layers were detected. The TZ-3Y20A/Mo multilayer composites were mostly composed of Al2O3, ZrO2 and Mo phases.
