Abstract
▶ The formation of Al3Ni and Al3Ni2 phases was from addition of Ni to the Mg17Al12. ▶ The Ni-containing alloys after dehydrogenation produced surplus Mg. ▶ The favorable hydrogenation performance was from the catalytic effect of surplus Mg. ▶ The Ni-containing alloys showed high hydrogen capacity and rapid absorption rate. ▶ Hydrogen storage properties of Ni-containing alloys are improved below 300 °C.
