Abstract
Free space optics (FSO) is a next generation wireless communication systems, which has the potential of providing high information capacity along with low effective installation cost and providing secure and unlicensed data transmission. The transmission in free space in affected by many destructive effects such as channel turbulence, pointing error and group velocity dispersion (GVD) effects. This leads to the attenuation and pulse broadening of the signal. There are many techniques to overcome this effect and the most commonly used in wireless communication is diversity Scheme. In this paper, we derived the closed form expressions of the probability of fade of FSO link over Malaga-distribution model with pointing errors including GVD effects. And the performance of the system is improved using reception diversity technique. These derived mathematical expressions are used to show the performance of the FSO system, using common parameters values for systems characteristic and limitations.
