Abstract
A laser-diode end-pumped Tm:YAG single crystal slab laser in acousto-optic Q-switched operation was demonstrated. For Q-switched operation, the average output power of 20.7Â W at 1Â kHz was achieved under the absorbed pump power of 83.6Â W, corresponding to the slope efficiency of 36.1%, the shortest pulse width of 84Â ns and the maximum pulse energy of 20.7Â mJ with peak power of 250Â kW were obtained.
