Abstract
The present study investigates the performance parameters i.e. angular responses, sensitivity, detection accuracy and quality factor of surface plasmon resonance biosensor with air gap as a dielectric. It takes the advantage of the remarkable adsorption property of graphene and sharp reflectance curve of silver. The thickness of air gap and silver layer has been optimized. Obtained results of proposed biosensor compared with graphene based biosensor without air gap; it is observed that the overall performance of the proposed biosensor is improved by introducing the air gap. The proposed SPR biosensor has sensitivity 2.35 times greater than that of graphene based biosensor without air gap. Also, the effects of graphene parameters i. e. temperature and chemical potential on the performance of biosensor are analyzed.
