Abstract
It was demonstrated that the combination of TiO2 with MoS2 was favorable thermodynamically. There appeared a built-in electric field in the interface region between TiO2 and monolayer MoS2. And because of its presence, the recombination of electron-hole pairs was effectively suppressed. The separation of photoexcited electron-hole pairs prolonged the lifetime of photoexcited carriers, which effectively improve the photocatalytic activity of TiO2. The theoretical study depicted the mechanism of enhanced photocatalytic activity of TiO2/MoS2.193
