Abstract
- We measure and compare two types of vernacular houses with modern terraced houses.
- Night ventilation improves but does not meet thermal comfort in the terraced houses.
- Timber vernacular houses have good solar control and a cool outdoor microclimate.
- Small courtyards enhance night structural cooling in masonry vernacular shophouses.
- Can meet adaptive comfort limit by above vernacular techniques in terraced houses.
