Abstract

The paper is based on numerical simulation technology. It finishes the simulation of an engine hood panel's forming process with eta/DYNAFORM. It studies the square blank model and four chamfer blank model individually, establishes and analyses eight stamping models of two groups, studies blank initial shape and dimension: how to influence the engine hood panel's stamping formability. The paper obtains the proper blank dimension through the analysis of stamping results, concludes the flow tendency and strain–stress distribution regularities of this part type, and makes the following conclusions: blank shape and dimension has significant effect on engine panels’ forming. When the blank shape is unmeet, adjusting the dimension in some range can improve the stamping result, but cannot settle the problem thoroughly. Stamping with square blank need more material, the part of this type is adapt to four chamfer blank. Chamfer of 75° can get better results, and the material consumption is reduced. It is suited for actual production.
