Abstract
The phenomenon of electromagnetic energy localization associated with the Wannier ladder resonances in optical stratified systems is studied. To make evident the existence of these resonances the transmission coefficient as function of the angle of incidence for a plane wave is computed. By calculating the electromagnetic energy density for some special values of the incidence angle, we observe a localization phenomenon within some layers. This localization phenomenon is not of the Anderson type. Finally, the role of the incident wave polarization is discussed.
