Abstract
A new method for experimental determination of residual stresses in boron fiber–aluminium matrix composites and the results of experimental measurements are described. A statistical processing technique of experimental data considering the origin of residual stresses as a random process is used to quantitatively evaluate their distribution. The results demonstrate the effects of different composite fabrication processes on the resulting residual stress distributions.
