Abstract
Electromagnetic compression is a suitable technology for the processing of hollow profiles made of aluminium alloys. In order to evaluate its suitability for magnesium profiles, different extruded magnesium alloys have been characterised. Important requirements on the tube material are, on the one hand, a high electrical conductivity and, on the other hand, a good formability. Thus, the evaluation of the magnesium alloys was done focusing particularly on these requirements.
