Abstract

Electro-magnetic pulse technologies use magnetic fields to move conductive material in extremely short time steps. Recent developments have demonstrated the application of these technologies to sheet metal forming, tubular space frames and drive shafts. The high velocity of the tube wall displacement under the influence of impulse-magnetic field pressure complicates the control of the deformation process. In this paper the forming process is divided into three basic stages: stage of free movement, stage of joint movement and stage of unloading. For studying the kinematics of the forming process, one of the programs of three-dimensional graphics is applied and then modeling is carried out with use of animation principles for basic stages of the process.
