Abstract
A method for the numerical solution of non-linear unsteady problems of the axisymmetric elastoplastic deformation of shells of revolution taking account of buckling at large deformations is described. The method enables the numerical modelling of extended axisymmetric elastoplastic deformation processes to be carried out and the limiting states of shells of revolution to be estimated over a wide range of loading rates from quasistatic to dynamic. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated by theoretical calculations and an experimental analysis of the stability of the elastoplastic process of the deformation of metal tube samples under combined tensile, internal pressure and torsional loads.
