Abstract
Nanofibrous assemblies of artificial melanin are achieved by combining marine bio-macromolecules of polydopamine and alginate, conferring solar-thermal performance superior to many natural and inorganic materials. Molecular template of alginate enables higher structural order and linear hierarchical buildup in polydopamine nanofibrils, promising efficient and bio-renewable solar-energy harvest applicable in solar electric power and solar evaporative desalination.456
