Abstract
This study provides an in-depth insight of naturally abundant spider silk as bio-piezoelectric material. We have successfully shown that spider silk has a definite vertical piezoelectric coefficient (∼ 0.36 pm/V) through PFM experiment which is newly added information to the existing piezoelectric history on silk. The fabricated energy harvester with energy conversion efficiency of ≈ 66%, reveals high output performance with instantaneous power density of ≈ 4.56 μW/cm2.486
