Abstract
A multilayered coaxial heterostructured TiO2/BaTiO3/Au nanorod array was successfully synthesized for the enhancement of photodynamic performance as an antibacterial coating. The piezophototronic effect from the ferroelectric semiconductor barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanolayer between TiO2 nanorod and plasmonic Au NPs created a favorable band bending for facilitating electron-hole separation and transportation, thus enhancing photoinduced reactive oxygen species generation and photodynamic therapy. It was successfully used for dermal bacterial killing and skin tissue regeneration in vitro and in vivo.270
