The discharging current of the discharge circuit is obtained by measuring the voltage of a current divider for electromagnetic forming processes. The variation regularity of the parameters of the discharge circuit with the distance between workpiece and inductor h is analyzed by means of the data fitting method. It is found that the discharging current parameters, the equivalent inductance of workpiece–inductor system LE and its active resistance RA vary with h in exponential regularity. With h increasing, the peak value of discharging current IP, the damping coefficient β and RA decrease, however, the time of the peak discharging current TP, the first half-wave time of discharging current TH and LE increase. Among the parameters of the discharge circuit, the variation of IP with h is the weakest, however, β is the sharpest. The curve shapes of TH and LE are most similar.
