Abstract
⺠We focus on cell shape effect on the mechanical behaviours of open-cell metal foams. ⺠We develop mechanistic models and analytic equations to account for cell shape effect. ⺠2-D/3-D finite element models and simulations have been also developed to account for cell shape effect. ⺠The proposed models have been validated through comparison with experimental data. ⺠Significant cell shape effect on deformation modes and failure mechanisms of open-cell metal foams has been found.
