Abstract
⺠Fivefold twinned nanowire exhibits higher Young's modulus than the single-crystalline one. ⺠Fivefold twinned nanowire has higher yielding strength but lower ductility than the single-crystalline one. ⺠The destructive twin boundaries initiates the fracture of twinned nanowire.
