Abstract

With the development of computer technology, foundry CAE technology has made rapid progress. The commercial software packages of casting process simulation, therefore, have become more and more practical. This paper introduces both the high pressure diecasting module and some applications of InteCAST software, a commercial numerical simulation software package for foundry industry, which has more than 180 customers all over the world. The function modules of InteCAST-hpdc8.0, which adopts some new techniques, such as uneven mesh technology for mold filling simulation, numerical mouse technology for data visualization, are introduced. Several applications on high pressure diecasting such as aluminum alloy high pressure diecasting, zinc alloy high pressure diecasting, are given. These applications show that the software can help technologists optimize casting process by forecasting casting defect.
