Abstract

Based on the flow formulation for slightly compressible rigid-plastic materials, the process of the axis symmetrical ring upsetting was simulated by the meshless method of corrected smooth particle hydrodynamics (CSPH). The proposal research was focused on a wide range of theoretical and numerical subjects, such as discretization procedures, numerical integration of the system matrices derived from the weak form, geometrical update of the deforming work piece and treatment of the frictional contact interface between the work piece and the die.The overall presentation is supported by upsetting experimental parts resulting from the compression of rings under laboratory conditions. Comparisons of the deformation shape of simulation of CSPH and experiment showed that the agreement between the prediction and experimental results is good.
