Abstract

Heat treatment is one of the important manufacturing processes that determines the quality of the products and is widely applied in many forming industries. Especially heat treatment of HSLA steel is extensively applied in order to obtain desirable mechanical properties. But dimensional distortion is always occurred during heat treatment process. To predict the problems with thermal deformation occurred from heat treatment, it is necessary to develop computer simulation model of heat treatment processes. The goal of this study is to obtain mechanical property data at martensite, bainite, ferrite/pearlite phase structure with HSLA steel for development of simulation model. Using obtained mechanical properties of HSLA steel, the computer simulation of heat treatment process is conducted with ABAQUS.
