Abstract

The additive values of magnesium during the fabrication of ternary compound NdMgNi4 prepared by mechanical alloying and sintered at 1123 K for 10 h under the protection of pure argon were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. XRD analysis of the as-prepared samples shows that when the Mg additive coefficient k = 1.05, the ideal NdMgNi4 single phase was observed. In addition, the causes were discussed.
