Abstract
Full-field strain and heat source measurement were used concurrently to investigate in-situ the propagation of Lüders band in a medium Mn transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steel. The local strain in the Lüders band was provided by the full-field strain measurement while the heat source in the Lüders band was estimated from temperature field. Martensitic transformation in the Lüders band is studied in-situ for the first time based on energy balance analysis. The combination of full-field strain and heat source measurement provides a novel and effective means to investigate in-situ the mechanism of Lüders band associated with martensitic transformation.
