Abstract
In this paper, the significant anisotropy of yield ratio in TA5 titanium alloy plates was studied using advanced analytical tools such as EBSD and the effects of the microstructure, dislocation and texture on the tensile properties of TA5 titanium alloy plates were analyzed. The results show that annealing heat treatment will reduce the dislocation density and cause grain growth, which leads to the decrease of tensile strength and yield strength, but heat treatment has little effect on the texture and the yield ratio anisotropic characteristics. The basal texture is the main texture in the TA5 titanium alloy plate. The peak intensity of the basal texture locates around ±36° from the center along rolling direction, whereas the value is ±64° along the transverse direction. The difference of the strength of basal texture in rolling direction and transverse direction results in the yield ratio anisotropic phenomenon.
