Abstract
The deformation behavior of 47Zr-45Ti-5Al-3V alloy in the β phase field was investigated by using the processing map in the temperature range of 700-1050 °C and the strain rate range of 10â3-10° sâ1. The results show that at low strains the flow instability occurs at strain rates higher than 0.4 sâ1 and in the temperature range of 700-835 °C. With increasing strain, the instability regime gradually extends to lower strain rates and higher temperatures. In the whole strain range, the optimum processing parameters for hot working are 950 °C and 10â3 sâ1 with a peak efficiency of about 0.72. At large strains, the efficiency of power dissipation is more than 0.7 at the temperature of 950 °C and strain rate of 100 sâ1, which may be considered to be a feasible working condition.
