Abstract
Bulk metallic glassy composites reinforced by ductile TiNb particles or ceramic ZrO2 particles were fabricated successfully by spark plasma sintering, respectively. A good bonding interface between the addition particle and the glassy matrix was obtained. The plasticity of composite reinforced by TiNb particles was larger than that of composite reinforced by ZrO2. The finite element method results revealed that the initiation of shear band in the glassy matrix was related to the plastic strain misfit between the reinforcements and the glassy matrix. Thus, a larger macro-plasticity was obtained in the composites reinforced by TiNb particles with the lower yield strength and better ductility.
