Abstract
The recrystallization texture, microstructures and mechanical properties of a new Mg-2.4Y-0.3Ca (WX20) alloy extruded with different ratios (15, 20 and 25) have been investigated. It was found that the recrystallized volume fraction increased and the microstructure became more homogeneous with the increase of extrusion ratio. An additional ã42¯2¯3ã texture component was observed and considered as the effect of Y and Ca addition on the orientation of recrystallized grains. A remarkably high tensile ductility of nearly 37% was achieved and the reasons for the high ductility were discussed.
