Abstract
⺠A TiN layer was coated on Ti fibres by an arc ion plating method. ⺠Prefer orientation of TiN on (1 1 1) and (2 0 0) was found. ⺠After coated with TiN layer, no significant reaction layer was found in (Tif + TiN)/Al composite. ⺠Small discontinuous needle-like TiAl3 phases were detected at TiN/Al interface.
