► SEM analysis proved useful to study ancient Andean Pediculus humanus capitis eggs. ► EP mode allows preservation of ancient samples. ► SEM analysis shows operculum, aeropyles, a cementing substance, an embryonated and hatching of eggs of Pediculus humanus capitis.
