Abstract

Nowadays different components must be produced in very narrow tolerances, the number of non-satisfying ones is limited to some tens parts per million, the final goal is oriented towards zero-defect production. To fulfil these preconditions the forming processes must be well understood. The paper discusses a possibility to improve and stabilize the quality of products by permanent process stability control and by positioning these processes in stable parts of technological windows. To find optimal solutions a combination of carefully selected experiments, analysis of successful production cases and tests in the virtual environments is highly recommended. To the discussion on process stability control some examples from sheet metal and bulk metal forming will be presented.
