Abstract
⺠AA 5083 was friction stir welded after heat treatment. ⺠Al3Mg2 (β phase) was precipitated along the grain boundary in AA 5083 after heat treatment. ⺠Al3Mg2 (β phase) was dissolved in the matrix after friction stir welding. ⺠More weigh loss was occurred at heat treatment sample due to precipitating of Al3Mg2 (β phase). ⺠SZs has almost same weigh loss due to dissolving of Al3Mg2 (β phase) during friction stir welding.
