Abstract
⺠The paper describes a novel method for the production of large TiAl components. ⺠The technique can potentially eliminate all defects which can be identified using non destructive techniques. ⺠As such techniques were not employed in the current study a variety of defects were found and their origin discussed. ⺠Nevertheless very good tensile properties were determined for the large disc that was examined.
